MAKKAH — The Grand Mosque witnessed a massive influx of worshippers and Umrah performers on the 29th night of Ramadan, as pilgrims gathered to perform Isha and Taraweeh prayers and mark the completion of the Holy Qur’an in a spiritually charged atmosphere. From the early hours of the day, large numbers of worshippers filled the mosque’s courtyards, corridors, and mataf area, as well as surrounding routes, performing rituals with ease and safety supported by comprehensive services and ongoing development projects overseen by the Kingdom’s leadership. The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque mobilized its full operational capacity in coordination with relevant entities to manage crowds, guide worshippers, and ensure smooth movement across prayer areas, with special attention to the elderly and people with disabilities. Efforts included deploying directional signage, intensifying cleaning, sterilization, and perfuming operations, maintaining full readiness of facilities, and providing Zamzam water at multiple locations around the clock. Authorities also organized entry and exit flows through designated gates, allocated dedicated access points for the elderly and people with disabilities, and enhanced field response teams to handle inquiries and support visitors. Advanced systems were activated to ensure the efficiency of sound, cooling, ventilation, and lighting, while electric and manual carts were operated through the “Tanqol” app under structured plans. Crowd management was further supported through multilingual digital screens, field guidance initiatives, and coordination with security authorities, particularly during peak congestion. The authority reinforced field teams to oversee operations across courtyards and passageways, maintain continuous cleaning, and ensure readiness of escalators, elevators, and emergency systems. As part of guidance efforts, the “Ask Me” initiative was deployed to provide on-ground assistance in multiple languages, helping visitors navigate the mosque and its facilities. The authority reaffirmed its commitment to delivering high-quality services through integrated operational plans, ensuring a safe and spiritually enriching experience for worshippers during this blessed night.
