WASHINGTON — US president Donald Trump said Saturday that the United States does not want Kurdish forces to become involved in the ongoing war with Iran, warning that their participation could further complicate the conflict.Speaking to reporters, Trump said Washington maintains good relations with the Kurds but has advised them not to enter the fighting.“We’re very friendly with the Kurds, as you know, but we don’t want to make the war any more complex than it already is,” Trump said.He added that he had explicitly told Kurdish groups not to take part in the conflict despite their willingness to do so.“I don’t want the Kurds going in. I don’t want to see the Kurds get hurt, get killed,” he said. The remarks come amid escalating tensions in the region following US and Israeli strikes on Iran and Tehran’s retaliatory missile and drone attacks.
