Prince Faisal and Marco Rubio discuss over phone Iranian attacks against Gulf countries

RIYADH — Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan received on Wednesday a phone call from US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. During the call, they discussed the ongoing Iranian attacks against Saudi Arabia and other countries in the region. Rubio expressed the appreciation of the United States for the Kingdom's efforts in protecting diplomatic missions and assisting in the evacuation of foreign nationals. Meanwhile, the US State Department said that the United States thanked Saudi Arabia for its response to the Iranian attack on the US Embassy in Riyadh. Rubio and Prince Faisal bin Farhan discussed “the continued threats the Iranian regime poses to regional stability, as well as other developments in the region,” State Department Spokesman Tommy Pigott said.Two drones targeted the embassy, but the Saudi Ministry of Defense said the attack only resulted in limited fire and minor damage to the building. Riyadh quickly condemned the attack as cowardly and unjustified, stressing that it violates all international legal norms.
