BEIRUT — Lebanon said Tuesday that it had arrested three foreign nationals suspected of involvement in “suspicious activities related to collaboration” with Israel. The country’s General Directorate of General Security said the arrests were carried out “based on precise intelligence and investigations.”Following interrogations conducted under judicial supervision, “the individuals confessed” to providing Israel with “security-sensitive information that contributed to causing severe damage, resulting in significant losses of life and property in Lebanon,” the directorate said in a statement. After the completion of legal procedures, the detainees were handed over to the competent judicial authorities to pursue legal action in accordance with applicable laws, it added.Authorities did not disclose the nationalities of those arrested. The arrests come as Israel and the Lebanese group Hezbollah continue to exchange fire amid ongoing regional escalation.According to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, at least 52 people have been killed and more than 150 injured in Israeli airstrikes across the country since Monday.Regional tensions intensified after the United States and Israel launched large-scale strikes on Iran on Saturday, reportedly killing nearly 800 people, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.Tehran has since retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel and Gulf countries.
