KUWAIT CITY — Kuwait Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs announced Saturday the resumption of Taraweeh and Qiyam prayers after a week-long suspension following Iranian attacks on the country. In a statement, the ministry said Taraweeh and Qiyam prayers will be held again in all mosques across Kuwait, while Ramadan centers and guest reciters will remain suspended. The ministry set the duration of Taraweeh prayers at 20 minutes and Qiyam prayers at 30 minutes.Ramadan centers in Kuwait usually host religious activities and invite prominent reciters from within the country and abroad to lead worshippers during Taraweeh and Qiyam prayers. On Feb. 28, the ministry suspended the prayers and limited mosque activities to the five daily prayers after the outbreak of the US-Israeli war against Iran. The conflict has killed hundreds of people in Iran, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and senior security officials.Tehran has responded with missile and drone attacks targeting Israel, Gulf countries, Jordan and Iraq. Some of the strikes caused casualties and damage to civilian facilities, drawing condemnation from the targeted Arab states.Earlier Saturday, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian pledged that Iran would halt attacks on neighboring countries unless attacks against Iran were launched from their territory.
