MANAMA — Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa on Sunday condemned the “unprecedented” Iranian attacks targeting Bahrain and other countries in the region. In a televised address broadcast by Bahrain’s state television ahead of the final ten days of Ramadan, the Bahraini monarch expressed regret over what he called unjustifiable assaults against his country and friendly states.“We regret what our country and our brotherly and friendly nations have been subjected to from unprecedented attacks that cannot be justified under any pretext by Iran,” the king said.He also praised the sincere Gulf solidarity and support for Bahrain during the crisis.King Hamad said contacts from friendly and allied nations had reaffirmed their support for Bahrain’s stability and reflected the respect the country enjoys internationally.Despite the challenges, he said Bahrain would remain committed to the path of wisdom and moderation while continuing to fulfill its responsibilities toward the Arab region and the international community.“Bahrain has always been and will remain a country of peace. It has never sought hostility toward anyone and follows a path of cooperation and good neighborliness,” he added. His remarks came after Masoud Pezeshkian said Saturday that Iran would halt attacks on neighboring countries unless attacks were launched against Iran from their territory. However, later the same day, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates reported new missile and drone attacks.Regional tensions have escalated since the United States and Israel launched military strikes against Iran on Feb. 28, killing hundreds of people, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and senior military officials.Iran has responded with missile and drone barrages targeting Israel as well as Gulf countries.
