JERUSALEM — Israeli authorities have banned Eid Al-Fitr prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem, citing security measures amid the ongoing war with Iran.Palestinian calls were made for worshippers to gather near the Old City and perform prayers as close as possible to Al-Aqsa to mark the end of Ramadan.Israeli police have previously used force, including batons, sound grenades, and tear gas, against Palestinians praying outside the Old City walls in protest against restrictions during Ramadan.Occupied East Jerusalem entered Eid in a subdued atmosphere, with the Old City largely deserted, resembling a ghost town instead of its usual crowded scenes ahead of the holiday.Access restrictions were imposed under an assembly ban, while most shops were forced to remain closed, except for pharmacies and essential food outlets.Palestinian traders, speaking anonymously for fear of reprisals, said the measures have caused severe economic hardship.
