Iran ‘crossed all limits,’ 85% of missiles targeted GCC — Al-Budaiwi

RIYADH — Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Jasem Al-Budaiwi said member states are studying all options to respond to Iranian attacks on the Gulf, while continuing to prioritize diplomatic solutions.Speaking at a press conference in Riyadh, Al-Budaiwi said GCC countries have exercised a high level of restraint to avoid further escalation, despite repeated attacks.He stressed that Iran bears responsibility for the escalation and must immediately halt its actions, noting that the right of Gulf states to self-defense is guaranteed under international law.Al-Budaiwi revealed that around 85% of Iranian missiles have been directed toward GCC countries, describing Iran’s behavior in the region as having “crossed all limits.”He added that GCC states have informed Iran they are not party to the conflict, while emphasizing that international law prohibits disrupting navigation through strategic straits.The secretary-general also called for GCC participation in any talks or agreements aimed at resolving the crisis.He reiterated strong condemnation of the “blatant and aggressive” Iranian attacks targeting infrastructure and oil facilities, warning that they pose a direct threat to regional stability and global energy security.Al-Budaiwi urged the international community to send a unified message to Iran to stop its attacks and de-escalate the situation.
