Iran claims it targeted Israeli police, security centers in drone strikes

TEHRAN — Iran’s army said Sunday that it carried out drone strikes targeting Israeli security centers and police headquarters as hostilities between Iran, Israel and the United States continue to widen across the region.In a statement, the military said the attacks were part of what it described as Iran’s legitimate right to self-defense.The army said the strikes came in response to what it called “blatant attacks carried out by the Zionist regime against members of the Iranian people at Iranian police facilities and public checkpoints.”According to the statement, the targets included the Israeli special police unit Lahav 433 and the satellite communications center Gilat Defense.Hostilities have escalated since Feb. 28 when Israel and the United States launched joint attacks on Iran, killing around 1,200 people, including then-Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.Iran has retaliated with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq and Gulf countries.
