Health Ministry: Botox, filler procedures must be supervised by specialist consultants

RIYADH — The Saudi Ministry of Health has launched an inspection campaign aimed at strengthening the safety of medical procedures in cosmetic clinics and ensuring compliance with approved health regulations.The ministry said the initiative is part of its regulatory and supervisory role to enhance the quality and safety of healthcare services and protect public health.It urged beneficiaries to be aware of their rights when receiving medical services and not to begin any treatment before obtaining written consent that clearly explains the procedure and its details, while keeping a copy for their records.Patients were also advised to know the initial cost of non-emergency services before undergoing treatment.The ministry noted that procedures such as filler, Botox and thread treatments must be carried out under the supervision of a specialized consultant.Patients also have the right to receive a stamped information card detailing the materials used and to review the physician’s license and academic qualifications.The Health Ministry emphasized the importance of patient awareness before undergoing any medical or cosmetic procedure and encouraged the public to report violations through the ministry’s call center at 937.It added that monitoring efforts will continue to protect public health and enhance the safety of healthcare services.
