Hamad International Airport says Qatar airspace closure continues

DOHA — Hamad International Airport announced Saturday that the temporary closure of Qatari airspace remains in place due to the current security situation in the region.In a statement posted on X, the airport said any flight operations are linked to the opening of a limited and temporary air corridor for evacuating stranded passengers and require authorization from the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority and relevant authorities.The airport urged travelers not to head to the airport at this time and to contact their airlines directly for updates regarding their flights.It stressed that any flights currently operating are limited to evacuation operations through temporary air routes approved by civil aviation authorities.Regular flight operations will resume only after the QCAA officially announces the safe reopening of Qatar’s airspace.On Feb. 28, the QCAA announced a temporary suspension of air navigation across Qatar. Earlier Saturday, the authority said Qatar Airways would partially resume flights starting Sunday through designated emergency routes.Qatar and seven other Arab countries have been subjected to Iranian missile and drone attacks since that date following joint US-Israeli strikes on Iran.
